Remember that little pyramid snippet at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past – that little nugget that they give us but give no explanation. Well, sleepless nights shall prevail no longer. The newest addition to the X-Men franchise is almost here and its apocalyptic.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be the eighth film in the franchise (or ninth if you count Deadpool) and the third film to feature the younger versions of the gang. The trailer is a feast for the eyes, including clips of what seems like every character that could possibly grace the screen in this film.
We know that X-Men: Apocalypse sees the return of the first and most powerful mutant ever to grace the Earth. He awakens after thousands of years and is oh-so-slightly disillusioned by the modern world. He wants to cleanse mankind and create a better world, a new world, which he will reign over of course.
If you watch right to the end (as if you wouldn’t) you get a glimpse of James McAvoy as the bald headed version of Professor X that we know and love. Our other favourites return including Michael Fassbender as the metal welding Erik/Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as the sultry yet tormented Raven/Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as the intelligent Hank/Beast, Rose Byrne as CIA Agent Moira MacTaggert, and thank X-Men goodness we will see the undoubtedly hilarious return of Evan Peters as Peter/Quicksilver.
Apocalypse or as he is known to the mere mortals, En Sabeh Nur, has a variety of superhuman abilities that are more powerful than anything we have seen before. Oscar Isaac who you might know from Inside Llewyn Davis, Ex Machina or The Bourne Legacy will play Apocalypse. Isaac has been busy, also nabbing a roll in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which premieres tomorrow you guys!!
X-Men: Apocalypse is here 26th May 2016.
