From the creators of The Holiday, Something’s Gotta Give and It’s Complicated, comes The Intern; the tiny tale of a senior citizen with bigger dreams.
A retiree is let down by the life of luxury and decides to seize the day and get back in the working game. Ben Whittaker finds himself an internship position at an online fashion site where be befriends a few unsuspecting youngsters.
Think The Internship, but without the comedic duo, scratch Google and add an online fashion site, there’s a 70 year old protagonist, Bumper from Pitch Perfect, a smidge of The Devil Wears Prada and Anne Hathaway, of course – that’s The Intern. As well as Hathaway, the film stars Robert De Niro, Adam Devine and Rene Russo.
From what we can tell through the trailer, that’s really the film in a nutshell. There are a few witty lines thrown in and a pretty, but unrealistic office space filled with young beautiful actors. It’s hard to tell if this one will be a hit or another fun-while-it-lasted kind of thing.
The director, Nancy Meyers is known for her long list of great RomCom type films including The Parent Trap, Father of the Bride and What Women Want.
The Intern hits cinemas September 2015.
