San Diego Comic Con 2014 has blessed us with yet another pleasant treat. Peter Jackson has revealed our first taste of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies during Warner Bros. presentation yesterday.
The third film in The Hobbit trilogy will focus on a tiny fraction of JRR Tolkien’s famed children’s story – much to the disapproval of hard core fans, I’m sure. The trailer is much darker and foreboding than previous trailers in the trilogy, giving the film that wonderfully familiar Lord of the Rings vibe. Not to mention that the trailer is accompanied by the song Pippin sings for Denethor in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Haunting.
With the rights to The Silmarillion still firmly in the grasp of the Tolkien estate, this may be Jackson’s last offering from Middle-earth.
You can catch Bilbo and friends in Australian cinemas this Boxing Day, so start looking for someone to share in an adventure.
