Early reports suggest that Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga) and writer-turned-actor Peyman Moaadi have contributed compelling performances to Peter Sattler’s debut feature, Camp X-Ray.
The film’s focus, as the title suggests, is Camp X-Ray, a former section of the highly controversial Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Judging by the trailer, however, the crux of the story seems to emphasise the relationship between Stewart’s Private Amy Cole and Moaadi’s Ali Amir – a story of people, rather than politics.
Camp X-Ray debuted earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival to mixed reviews; most of the positivity has been generated from the aforementioned showings of Stewart and Moaadi.
There is no word yet on an Australian release, but US cinephiles can check out Camp X-Ray on October 17.
