As we have all seemed to catch Beyonce-fever on the back of her Australian Mrs Carter tour – it now seems it’s her sister’s turn to take the spotlight.
Solange Knowles, sister of Beyonce and singer in her own right, has just been appointed as Puma‘s new art director and creative consultant. Her first venture in this new position has seen the announcement of a new ‘Brazil-inspired’ line of kicks that feature bright patterns and colours, a shoe that is designed to ‘fit in with Solange’s own vibrant wardrobe’.

Knowles’ new position was confirmed by the artist via Tumblr, stating:
AFTER YEARS OF ART DIRECTING MY OWN PROJECTS AND VISUALS, INCLUDING MUSIC VIDEOS, PHOTO SHOOTS, ALBUM ARTWORK AND WEB CONTENT AMONG MANY OTHERS, I AM EXTREMELY EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT I AM NOW ABLE TO APPLY MY PASSION FOR ALL THINGS DESIGN INTO MY NEW ROLL AS AN ART DIRECTOR FOR THE ICONIC PUMA!!!
She also said “THE SHIT IS WILD, AND COME FEBRUARY I HOPE YOU WILL BE JUST AS IN LOVE AS I AM. THIS HAS BEEN A DREAM JOB, AND THE RIDE HAS JUST BEGUN!”
The sneaker was conceptualised over the duration of summer in the US, and co-designed by Gerlan, William Okpo and Hisham Bharoocha – ultimately aiming to recreate the ‘classic Puma Disc sneaker’.
In perfect time for the Australian summer, these kicks are sure to be a hit with all you bright-coloured fashion lovers.
