British singer-songwriter Rita Ora has confirmed via twitter that she has officially joined the cast of Fifty Shades of Grey.
As male lead (and title character) Christian Grey’s adopted sister Mia, Ora joins Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan in Sam Taylor-Johnson’s big screen adaptation of the erotic romance novel by E L James.
Although Ora had dabbled in some serious acting in 2004 this will mark her first major role since then, having appeared only as herself in one episode of 90210 and as an uncredited racer in Fast & Furious 6 in the last nine years.
This is definitely big news for Ora as although this film is sure to disappoint (those who haven’t read the book will be treated to porn with less plot, and those who have will notice all the good bits censored away) it’s also bound to open to impressive numbers (see ‘porn’ above).
Fifty Shades of Grey is expected in theatres in February 2015
