Nike Unveils Riccardo Tisci’s Air Force 1 Collection

A couple of months ago, we were unbelievably excited to hear that Riccardo Tisci – Givenchy’s revered creative director – was collaborating with Nike to create a line of sneakers. The iconic label has finally revealed the official campaign for the R.T. Air Force 1 collection.

There will be four styles in total – the Air Force 1 Lo, the Air Force 1 Mid with ankle strap, the Air Force 1 Hi and the knee-hi Air Force 1 Boot.

Premium leather and screen-printed laces come as part of the package while the infamous swoosh as well as the woven jacquard ankle straps and details will be decorated with a tribal-like design reminiscent of Givenchy’s Spring 2014 collection.

Tisci’s choice to focus on the AF1′s was an obvious one as he has stated in the past that he has worn the shoes for the last 15 years. Not to mention that he is often photographed in his go-to outfit of “a black t-shirt, black trousers and white Nikes”. He has said that being given a chance to add his own touches to the extremely well-known designs was “amazing” – which is pretty big coming from one of the biggest designers at the moment.

This collaboration is something that to me, is not work, it’s more of a celebration of life, a celebration of something that I love, respect, and believe in.

The white colourway of the collection will be released at select locations on March 21 while the black versions will be available in May. Unfortunately for the rest of us down under, it looks like we’ll have to try our luck with online resellers.
