On the back of their semi-national tour as part of Groovin The Moo festival, local favourites The Amity Affliction have just released the video for their second single, Open Letter. Taken off their third studio album, Chasing Ghosts, the band have found themselves jumping into the position of one of the biggest bands in Australian hardcore after the record premiered at #1 on the ARIA album charts last September.
After recently announcing the departure of guitarist Imran Siddiqi, along with the addition of previous touring guitarist, Dan Brown, the band have put their line-up changes behind them and continued a successful run on their most recent release.
The song itself has the distinctive feel of earlier releases from the now four-piece. Reminiscent of previous releases, particularly of 2008’s debut release Severed Ties, the video also depicts some more familiar themes veteran fans will be delighted to re-visit.
Prior to the release of Chasing Ghosts, which provides the listener with more serious underlying issues such as youth suicide and depression, The Amity Affliction were known to be all about one thing. That one thing simply being…Party.
Honouring the fact they can party while keeping their musical integrity, the simple concept for Open Letter is executed in a manner only Amity can pull off. featuring dudes drinking out of shoes, fire breathers, and indoor skate ramps at a house party while they play; Honestly, what more could you really ask for? If you’re going to say scantily-clad babes having pillow fights, yeah, they’ve got that too, so your best bet is to watch and enjoy.
