In ridiculous fashion news this week, American vintage brand Lucky 13 is suing T-Swizzle for her excessive use of their trademark number.
The popstar claims, “Whenever 13 comes up in my life, it’s a good thing. I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first number one song had a 13 second intro.”
This seems a little like the blonde pop-star is clutching at straws here, being a little superstitious and making connections between the few times in her 24 years of existence that the number has popped up. However, it hardly makes sense to sue someone on the grounds of being a little superstitious.
Lucky 13 claims that T is breaching copyright infringement by using their registered trademark and publicising it as her ‘lucky thirteen’. Whether this is actually copyright infringement is up to the courts to decide, but suspicion is growing that the brand is using this publicity to raise hits on their webpage.
Either way, Taylor probably won’t miss the dollars from her bank account considering she’s one of the highest paid celebs on the planet. Good luck to you Lucky 13!
