Promoted originally with posters plastered around the country, no advertising for weeks yet hype through the roof, Kanye West’s Australian leg of the famed Yeezus tour has been on our lips since the beginning of 2014. Originally set to kick off in May, giving us not-very-much-time-to-freak-out-at-all. Thanks Kanye.
Wait a second though! Thanks Kanye! We won’t be seeing Yeezus down under for a while now, since the rap superstar has decided to postpone coming to see us in favour of (!!!!!!!) continuing to work on his latest album. Let’s do the math here -
Instead, West will grace our shores at the beginning of September.
His seventh studio album (produced by Rick Rubin, the guy who brought us Yeezus, and MC Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest) is due to be released mid-2014.
Our cycle of the Yeezus tour could also be the worldwide preview of the Whatever It Is He’s Gonna Bring Our After Yeezus Tour. For once in Australian history, we might get something first?
Tour promoter Live Nation released the following statement: ”Due to unexpected timing requirements to finish his highly anticipated new studio album, scheduled for a 2014 release, Kanye West regretfully announces the postponement of his upcoming tour dates in Australia.”
Well, it may be regretful to some, but to be honest, this could be the coolest thing that’s happened to an Australian tour in a while.
