For those of you who may be hearing The Luke Louie Trio’s sound for the very first time, this is love to the ears of a blues and rock ‘n’ roll fan. (Or simply for anyone who enjoys some good and raw talent… I mean, who doesn’t, right?!)

This Adelaide trio came together in January last year and have been leaving their mark around town in such places like Rocket Bar, Pirie & Co Social Club, The Grace Emily, The Exeter and pretty much all the places where the cool kids like to hang. Hugely influenced by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Paul Kelly, The Rolling Stones and Paolo Nutini, this six track EP only shockingly took two days to record at Twin Earth Studios and three days to mix and master by John-Paul James.

Listening to the first track, Morning Sun, one can immediately imagine themselves driving down the highway, with the wind blowing through their hair. Luke’s husky vocals, combined with a groovy guitar melody are something that you could listen to over and over again. Track three is also another tune that is destined to live on repeat. Big Bag Wolf has a slower tempo and a more bluesy sound. It’s a track you could definitely have a fair few beers too. The catchy chorus, the raw, vintage sound of an old school microphone, and even that John Mayer sounding guitar solo has really makes this song a favourite. “We wanted to capture a raw, honest sounds and that’s why we used tape and recorded all the tracks together in the same room”, says lead vocalist and guitarist, Luke.

Shake, Lullaby For…(an epic ten minutes), For Never Ever and Drop You A Line are the names of the other singles included on the EP and when I say do yourselves a favour and get your hands on this album, get your paws on it!! With a mixture of rock ‘n’ roll and blues tunes, it’s sad to hear that this Friday night will be one of the last nights to catch these lads perform live! Make sure to get down to Pirie & Co Social Club to witness this talented trio and help celebrate this very cool brand spankin’ new EP. Local Adelaide boys, Cosmo Thundercat and Electric Exiles will be opening up on the night so the start to your weekend is already guaranteed to be a rad one!
