Ellen Page Declares Naughty Dog ‘ripped off’ her likeness in The Last of Us

The Last of Us hit stores last week, exclusive to PS3. The game has received overwhelmingly positive reviews and fan reactions, typical of a Naughty Dog release. Though actor Ellen Page (Juno, Inception) doesn’t appreciate her likeness being supposedly ‘ripped off’ by Ellie (voiced and motion captured by Ashley Johnson), one of the main character’s in Naughty Dog’s newest game.

Since The Last of Us was initially unveiled back in 2011, there have been copious allegations against the game that Ellie looks a hell of a lot like the famous, similarly named Ellen Page, however not until now has the actor actually commented on it. During a Reddit AMA, Page stated the following:

I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness… But I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated.

In response to these comments, Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann tweeted this:

Ellie from The Last of Us was perfectly played by @thevulcansalute. No one could’ve done a better job. Please go follow her and retweet.

Personally I can see the resemblance, but I am not convinced that it was Naughty Dog’s intention to ‘rip off’ Ellen Page’s likeness. Take a look for yourself, see what you think and let us know.

Hey, I'm Gabriel. Games are really cool, I like them a lot. My favourites are Assassin's Creed II, Bastion, Pokémon and so many more, wow. Words are also cool, so sometimes I like to write words about games.
