Balmain’s Sister Act


This week, Balmain unveiled their new campaign – and as expected, it was infused with the social media personalities who constantly flood our Instagram feeds with endless cool. Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing, added another element to the label’s surge into social media overdrive, by having Kylie Jenner pose with sister Kendall, supermodel Joan Smalls and her sister Erika, and finally Gigi Hadid with sister Bella revealed as the latest campaign-ettes.


Since Rousteing took over the reigns of the label at just 25 years old, it has become a seemingly endless story of “what will he do next?”

High fashion is now something of easy-accessibility and creative directorship something intensely followed – especially since the rise of internet-based media platforms. And to be honest, we couldn’t be happier for it. Gone are the days where we would stumble upon a familiar face in the first 20 pages of a magazine, and as such see who was in what campaign.


Nowadays, fashion campaigns are as hotly anticipated as any other fashion grand reveal (cc: fashion week), and with cool sister duo’s fronting a high profile label such as Balmain, it certainly seems like campaigns are something worth hanging out for.
