I am done. My life is complete. No, really it is. In case you haven’t heard the earth shattering news this morning, Balmain has just been announced as H&M‘s next guest collaborator.
After the success and worldwide heartbreak (from missing out) that was Alexander Wang for H&M, we have all been eagerly hanging out to see who high street giants H&M would recruit next. Then this morning came and Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing showed up on the red carpet of the Billboard Music Awards flanked by some of the main members of his #BalmainArmy, Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn, dropping the news bomb on us all via social media.
From what we’ve seen of the Instagram shots so far, the capsule collection is staying very true to Balmain’s heavy embroidery and military-inspired uniforms – so don’t expect it to come at those crazy cheap H&M prices. Jenner’s jacket was a particular standout, complete with intricate pearl embellishment and was reminiscent of the kind of detail Rousteing put into her sister, Kim Kardashian’s hens night dress. While Dunn went for a mini-skirt and top ensemble that was very in-line with their luxe-military jackets – and those huge gold accessories of course.
We’re still all recovering from the news here. And I’m dying a little inside that I probably won’t get the chance to fight off all the hungry fashion predators come November 5 – which has been announced as the official release date. So here’s to hoping we see more sneak peeks in the next few months to sooth our souls. Be still my beating heart.
