Australian Warped Tour Line Up Announced

Following a lengthy hiatus from Australia, the Vans Warped Tour is returning to our shores in 2013, with the first round of acts being released last night via Triple J’s Short.Fast.Loud.

It has been a long time coming, with the festival being prepared by Kevin Lyman, the man originally behind Australia’s Warped, and the people that provide Soundwave to us each year. Organiser AJ Maddah previously hinted on his Twitter page this festival will have a larger emphasis on punk rock and DIY bands, with Soundwave being the bigger festival with internationally acclaimed acts.

That’s not to say that Warped will be anything less than a great day in the sun with quality acts – the first round of artists gracing the line-up includes The Used, The Offspring, Simple Plan and New Found Glory – who also played at the first Australian Warped Tour in 2002.

Paying homage to the traditional mindset of the festival, Australia’s Warped will showcase both international and local talent on the main stages. Local favourites Tonight Alive and Parkway Drive are in the first round of announcements, with more local acts to follow for each city.

Kicking off on November 29th in Brisbane, the festival will be travelling around the country, Perth excluded (Western Australian government regulations have prevented the festival appearing in 2013). As a consolation, Perth will be the only city to have any side shows, so if you want to see any of these bands, Warped will be the only place to do so in December.

Lover of punk rock, and anything with a hint of angst. Aside from writing for XXIV, I also co-ordinate music festivals on-board the Rhapsody of the Seas. When I’m not abroad, you can find me gallivanting around my hometown of Adelaide, dreaming of Manhattan. My home is wherever my suitcase takes me.
